Privacy policy

Effective and last updated: 18 October 2026. This policy covers every Chrome extension published by VarLabs — currently Simple Calculator, GoGenie and SafeTap — and applies to all of them equally.

The short version

1. Who we are

VarLabs is an independent software publisher that builds small, single-purpose browser extensions. We are the data controller for the limited processing described below. You can reach us at any time at support@varlabs.dev.

2. What we collect

Nothing that identifies you. Our extensions do not ask you to create an account, sign in, or hand over an email address. We do not operate a user database, and we do not receive any personal identifier from the extension — no name, email, phone number, precise location, health data, financial data, authentication credentials, personal communications, or web browsing history.

We do not use cookies, pixels, device fingerprints, or any other identification technique for advertising, profiling or analytics purposes.

3. What stays inside your browser

Some extensions remember your own preferences — for example, a theme choice, a recent calculation, or the fields you selected on a page. That information is stored locally by Chrome on your own device (chrome.storage) and is used only to make the extension behave the way you set it up.

4. The one case where a request leaves your browser

Some VarLabs extensions offer an AI-assisted feature (for example, GoGenie's scraping and summarisation). These features only ever run when you ask for them.

Please avoid sending content you are not permitted to share — for example other people's confidential data or material covered by a confidentiality agreement.

5. Permissions and why we ask for them

Every extension requests the least access it can work with, and each permission is declared openly on its Chrome Web Store page before you install it. Nothing is requested speculatively.

We do not inject ads, we do not modify pages to insert tracking, and we do not resell access to any site.

6. What we will never do

7. Security

Because we hold no central store of user data, there is no database of yours to breach. All extension code is bundled and reviewed before it ships, and where a request must travel to an AI provider it goes over an encrypted connection.

8. Safe for everyone

Our extensions are suitable for general audiences, including younger users. They contain no advertising, no tracking, no profiling, no social features, no in-app purchases, and no mature content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, and we have no mechanism that could collect it from a child.

9. Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights of access, correction, deletion and objection over personal data held about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to look up, change or erase — but if you have any question, write to us and we will answer honestly. Removing an extension from Chrome removes everything it stored locally, immediately.

10. Third-party links and services

Extensions may open external pages, for example the Chrome Web Store or a site you asked to visit. Once you leave our extension, the privacy policy of that site applies. We have no control over, and take no responsibility for, the practices of external sites.

11. Changes to this policy

If an extension ever needs a new permission or introduces data handling that is not described here, this page will be updated first and the "last updated" date above will change. Because we have no way to email you, this page is the authoritative record — bookmark it if you want to keep an eye on it.

12. Contact

Questions, concerns, or a correction request: support@varlabs.dev. We read everything and reply as a human, not a bot.
